Road Bikes
We are proud to be the area's exclusive Trek and Lemond Cycles Retailer.
Bevil Hogg and Tom Frenchnwere two of the three men who started Trek Bicycles in the early 1970's. Today, the Trek Bicycle Corporation is a major American bicycle and component manufacturer. Trek's high-end bicycles (such as the Madone road bike, ridden in three of seven Tour de France victories by Lance Armstrong, and Fuel mountain bike) are built at Trek's world headquarters in the town of Waterloo, Wisconsin, while the price-competitive models are manufactured in Taiwan or mainland China. Trek is the largest US manufacturer of bicycles and related aftermarket products and is becoming a major industry player worldwide. Trek currently supplies the bicycles for the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team of the USA.
Before 1986, no American had ever won the Tour de France. Since then, an American has won more times than not. It all started with Greg LeMond. He won the '86 tour, and since then, cycling has never been the same. 1986—2006.
Greg LeMond broke a lot of ground in his career. The first American to win the Tour, the first successful professional to use clipless pedals, cycling eyewear and aero bars—all common occurrences now. Greg changed the world of cycling—dramatically. But Greg isn't an advocate for change in all aspects of cycling. He remains steadfast in his opinion on frame geometry, proper cycling ergonomics and the feel and response of a bike. Legendary ride quality, above all else, is Greg's number one concern.
There is only one place in the world to buy a new LeMond—an authorized LeMond dealer. Momentum Cycles is the authorized dealer in this area.
Top to bottom TREK and LEMOND can't be beat but sometimes you just want something a little different. So this is why we offer SCOTT USA and Kestrel as alternatives.
As SCOTT USA re-entered the US market they turned heads with their 950g CR1 Carbon road frame three years ago. Now that everybody else is trying to catch up they've pushed the the envelope that much further with the ADDICTs. With ADDICTS IMP technology --essentially carbon welding, frames' weights are coming in at just a smidgen under 800g. Money can't buy a lighter stronger frame.
In 1986 Bevil Hogg and Tom French (TREK) formed a company called Kestrel with the sole intent on producing the world's first all carbon fiber bicycle. Their frames and especially their forks were an instant success. In fact, Greg Lemond's "Z" team was known to ride these forks with the team sponsor's graphics painted on the forks.
Today, Kestrel continues to innovate and offer world-class products with their AirFoil, Evoke, Talon SL and Talon models at an affordable price.
