BONTRAGER/WHEELS 2010

TRIATHLON

WHEELS.

aeolus

Next to the bike frame itself, nothing has a bigger impact on your bike's performance than your wheels.  From rugged training wheels to featherweight racing wheels, upgrading to a set of Bontrager wheels is a surefire way to save weight, go faster, and improve your bike's handling.

Whats New?

Totally redesigned wheels.

-Quicker acceleration due to lower rotating rim weights.

-More durable and reliable hub mechanics.

-Alternating spoke patterns.

By using wider rims and moving to alternating spoke patterns, they have been able to make the rim with less material, resulting in less weight as they no longer need to withstand the concentrated force of two paired spokes in the same area.

And when it comes to dropping weight on a bicycle the rim is the ideal place to start as each gram saved in a rim is worth 1.8 grams saved elsewhere on the bike.  Dropping weight in other places of the bike only affects the 'static' or actual weight of the bike.  Dropping weight at the rim affects both static and dynamic weight.

 Key Technical Features:

MOUNTAIN BIKE

Cross Country Wheels.

Rims and hubs improved in 2010.

Race xXx Lite
+Bontragers lightest, high-performance mountain bike wheelset (1406g 26" wheelset and 1512g in 29")

+HCM carbon construction used for exceptional strength in a lightweight rim

+Tool-free, Bontrager engineered hubset with 3 pawl ratchet improves stiffness and simplifies maintenance

+Hubs are compatible with both Center Lock and 6-bolt rotors cores for Tubeless Ready performance

+Available in 26" and 29"

Rhythm Wheels. A lightweight all mountain performance.  Specifically, a rim designed to improve the interface with he tire (particularly in Bontrager Tubeless Ready setups), a more stable tire contact area with the trial, offered with as little weight penalty as possible.

+Features a wider 28mm rim that improves the  performance of large volume tires, providing added traction, control and durabillity

+Rhythm wheels mate a wider rim with cross country hubs and psokes for lightweight wheel system performance

+Tubeless compatible using the included Tubeless Ready rim strips and valves

+Symmetric tire well for increased rim strength

+3mm offset spoke bed for better bracing angles and evenly tensioned spokes

COMPUTERS

duotrap

Say goodbye to zip ties! An industry first, Bontrager's patented SpeedTrap technology allow the rider to put a 2.4 GHz wireless snsor directly into the fork leg itself.  The result is a clean look that preserves aerodynamics and a sensor that installs in seconds.

SpeedTrap sensors work with ANT+ compatible digital computers such as Bontrager Node, Trek Incite Digital, Blackburn Neuro , and the Garmin 705.  This technology is built into many Trek Road and Pavement models plus many of the Gary Fisher Road models.

In 2010 Bontrager has taken SpeedTrap technology to the next level by creating a sensor that sits with the left chainstay and reads both speed and cadence.

As with the SpeedTrap, the results of suing a DuoTrap is a cleaner, more aerodynamic appearance with less time spent on installation.

DuoTrap sensors are compatible with only the Trek Madone line in 2010.
